This is an app for both desktop and mobile devices that measures how fast your internet connection is in a given area.
I believe this was created because far too often you want to know where you stack up amongst your friends and neighbors in speeds. You want to be the best and have the fastest connection and want to be able to show it off. I believe that this app was created partly for bench marks but also partly for ego of those using it. They want to show off how their connection is the fastest around. In todays society we want to be the best, the fastest, and the most powerful no matter where we go and no matter what we do. This app is an easy way for us to show off exactly that. It allows us to even test ourselves in other areas and know how we do in more than one location.
In a nutshell this app was created to be a useful utility to computer geeks but also to be a tool of ego for those same computer geeks to show off to their friends.
