6-Taylor Payne

In our Project 3, my partner and I re-designed the layout of YouTube’s homepage. We wanted to make it less cluttered while also giving it a new look. We felt that there was a better way to display the videos and categories, and that we could also adapt some of YouTube’s current features to fit our needs.

We believed that the users’ mental model of YouTube’s homepage is a page that they can go to quickly browse through new videos and categories.

For our implementation model, we added a ‘categories’ bar, which added some organization and quick access to the different categories that the user might want. We also made the decision to display the search results into the video area (the area that typically displays the video you are watching) just to add a new feature. This helped to make the page less cluttered.
